SPECIAL COMMUNICATION

      The Special State Protection Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan is a special military unit that is directly in the command of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan.  The main duties of the Special State Protection Service are – to organize and provide security of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and other state protection objects and also of heads of foreign states and governments (Foreign missions) while their being in Azerbaijan, to organize and provide security of objects of the Office of the President, National Assembly, Constitutional Court, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Central Election Commission.
      The Special State Protection Service as a subject of the counter-intelligence activity carries out operative search activity in the field of security provision of state protection objects and protected objects; organize Presidential communication and special communication. Establishment and operation of Internet network between state authorities    is also carried out by Special State Protection Service.
      Special State Protection State have been organizing and providing  security and protections of parts of export oil pipelines passing through the land since 2003.
National Guard
National Guard in Azerbaijan was established according to the Decree 524 of December 25, 1991 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Guard is from Italian origin means "privileged special military unit". In early years military service in National Guard was voluntary on the basis of two-year contract. The selection of personnel was carried out with the help of human resource departments of Ministry of National Security, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ministry of Defense.
Export Oil and Gas Pipelines Security Department
Export Oil and Gas Export Security Department was founded in the structure of the Special State Protection Service according to Decree No 873-2 of May 31, 2003 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The main duties of the department are to provide security and protection of the parts of export oil and gas pipelines passing through land – Sangachal oil terminal, compressor and measuring stations, pipelines and their other ground objects.
